Antique French Patriotic Military Mirror Latin Motto ~ Peace & War Prepare c1870 Coffee PotOrnate military patriotic mirror cast in metal with decorative moulded female allegorical figures. Made c1870 to 1880 France. Has inscription in latin, military symbolism, laurel, star, sheilds, and mottos. The ribbon and bow on the front are typical of French ebenistes iron founders. The back casting voids and vent holes match French industrial moulds. This is likely made by Val d Osne Paris. Latin motto translates; "Pacem Para Bellum"~ If you desire

and this Gothic Apostle Jug is a prime example of his craftsmanship

The epergne vase is not original but is one we had that fitted suitably

and designed for meditation rather than decoration alone

Condition: Inspection found the Gentleman has a loss to hand
