It's hard to get used to calling these birds Meadowlarks since their bright red undersides are so different from our yellow meadowlarks

Watching these birds wheel around is great

but challenging to capture since it prefers to perch lower on stalks amongst the many twigs

it's amazing how often I walk blindly by a bird and find it ONLY after I sit down and stop moving
