Walnut Parquetry, Brass & Mother Of Pearl Inlaid Tea Caddy, c.1880 RegencyA late 19th century walnut parquetry, brass and mother of pearl inlaid tea caddy. The caddy is of unusual design with brass and mother of pearl inlay very much in the art nouveau taste to both the top and escutcheon, contrasting with the crisp parquetry inlay to the front and top. The hinged top opens to reveal two lidded compartments, each lid boasting a tunbridge style border. Some light signs of wear commensurate with age but overall the caddy is

Original white metal handle remains to the top of the box

Five raised bands and gilt stamped decoration to the spine

The rectangular framed mirror is flanked by stiles

Fantastic patina throughout

In revenge the serpent spat some of his poison into the man's drinking-horn

The table has a small amount of warping to fold over lid and has some marks commensurate with age (please see photographs) but remains in a very good condition overall
